Pre-sequel to the last two weekends…..

How could I forget these adorable helpers. Papa had to get a few supplies to fill the trailer so off course the boys wanted to go work.

What fun pushing the cart. Of course the supervisor was in tow.

First some pipe. Check!

Tubes, tubes and tubes.

Peek a boo I see you. What great helpers for Papa. Reward is in store. Frozen yorgurt here we come.!!!!!

Till next time……

Labor Day weekend continues….

After a busy work day I tell you rolling out of bed the next is a chore. We aren’t getting younger as the days go by.

We started Monday by putting up plywood on one side of the interior walls for stability.

We put the vents in on top of the cisterns

Shawna and I built forms and  poured concrete on Sunday. Yes that’s right. We lifted 80 pound sacks and hand mix concrete in a wheel barrow. We then spread it around our catch basins we installed. This is where the rain water from the down spout start goes through the big black tubes into the 350 gallon cisterns. On Monday the concrete was dry and I was able to add the finding touches of rock. Love it when a plan come together.

We finished the day off by cleaning up the last of the crap wood pile. Moving all the extra plywood, hooking up the trailer, washing off the escavator, wrapping up 90 bags of concrete to protect them from the rain, cleaning up the Moho to prepare for an early exit Tuesday morning.

With every step we take it becomes more rewarding. Our plan is to move next summer but you know how plans go sometimes. Blown out the window but then you make a new one. I think I’ll keep the windows closed!!!!!

Hope ya all had a great weekend.

Till next time…..

Labor Day week……

Balls to the wall was our motto this weekend. Martin took off Friday and Tuesday. So off we go to the property. Stopping to pick up an escavator

First thing was to dig the trenches and holes for collection of roof run off. We installed 350 gallon cisterns to be able to provide water for the wild life and for our outdoor shower.

As always our number helper Ron is there to lend a helping hand.

Reinforcements arrive Saturday morning. Marty, Shawna, Trey and Tanner arrive to provide helping hands.

Painting of the support blocks before they can be buried. Then it time to move dirt, lots and lots of dirt.

Martin on the escavator!!!!

Marty on the tractor to which we call smokey. Smokes like a chimney. Needs a motor rebuild bad.

Ron on his little John Deere!!!!

Even had to shovel some dirt by hand.

Big hands and small hands helped and  the work got done.

Shawna and I painted a few doors so the boys wanted to help paint too!

Our little helpers took a break from working to drive around the gator collecting rocks for Grammies rock wall.

After all the digging, trenching laying piping for water, wind generator and electric generator, Saturday was coming to a close. We took the time to set the generator in place.

Marty manned the tractor to lift it into place.

The peanut gallery were watching the men with cold drinks in hand, shade over head and a nice dirt mound to sit on.

We ended the day with BBQ and burgers at the Gattering Place. Fine food and the best company.

Till next time……

Papa time….

The weekend before this holiday, Papa and the boys took a quick trip up to the property to haul supplies. Up on Saturday and drive back Sunday morning. Doughnuts, Starbucks and some fuel and they are ready to roll.

Trey drives soooo good Papa trusts him with the gator.

Of course they had to stop in to see the Pie Lady.

Driving the tractor at age 5 and 8. Tanner has to stand up to push the peddle. How much fun could two boys have?

All the tiny little sunflowers were lining the street.

Of course Papa wouldn’t leave his co pilot behind. Boys in the back so Kansas got to be a big girl and sit in front.

Special time with Papa meant driving the tractor, driving the gator, shooting BB guns, sitting by the fire and eating cheeze it’s and vanilla wafers for dinner. Sleeping in their clothes cause they were too tired to put sheets on the beds. Just cover up with a blanket.

Up early Sunday to head back home from this special bro time.

Memorable moments.

Till next time…..
