Watching the weather as many storms blow through Arizona and New Mexico. Lots of rain, snow and wind.
Martin installed a new weather station at the property on our last trip. It is amazing to watch the temperatures outside as well as inside the house.
After a day of sunshine the house warmed up to 48 degrees when it was 18 outside.
Last night when we went to bed.
It has dropped to 8 degrees. The house 40 degrees.
This morning as we woke up.
It only dropped to 32 degrees after all night of really cold weather outside.
Today should be a sunny day up there and Mother Nature will warm up the house again. It is amazing to watch the concept working.
The house still is not fully insulated and we have air leaks everywhere so we are excited to finish the build and reap the rewards from Mother Nature.
Martin calculated with all the water we released back to the earth 🌏 we would have had 280 days of water use.
We go back up in two weeks. I’m sure after all the rain and snow pack our tanks will be full again.
The kids’ house will be complete in three weeks and they will begin their new chapter in their new home. 🏡 And we will begin ours. Our house goes up for sale mid March. Praying 🙏 we have a quick sale and then off to finish the dream we started.
Till next time…..
As we get closer two more pieces arrived of our big purchase.
The composting toilet
And the washer/dryer combo.
Love it when a plan comes together.
Till next time….
We couldn’t believe we were in bed 12 hours. We woke up to a little dusting of snow.
Our job was to complete the corridor. Up goes the tin!
After a little invention of Martins the tin went up like a breeze.
With a little trim work and the floor cleaned and sealed then this room will be complete.
The bulbs you see hanging are testers. One is 10 watt, one is 5 watt and one is 3 watt. We have determined that the 5 watt will work the best for our needs and our battery system.
We also installed our weather station. Check. Martin loves his tech stuff. ❤❤❤.
Tonight we will spend some time in our sauna and then head out early tomorrow to try to hit the roads while they are frozen. We ran some wood up to Johns house at noon today and this one little hill next to our property Martin could not steer. We just slid and off the road we went just stopping 6″ from a tree. Yep poop 💩 our panties we did.
Hope all our friends and family had a safe holiday. Be back up in February.
Till next time…..
New Years Eve day started with a beautiful light snow.
Martin spent the morning figuring out the lighting in the corridor. Ta-da!
I installed insulation in the ceiling. I don’t complain about much but I really don’t like insulation. It’s itchy and gets up your nose and in your eyes so protection is a must. Ick!!!
My little soldier all lined up. Ready for duty!
As the morning warmed up you could hear the water collecting into the gutters. Such an amazing sound.
And you can see the water level is past full so you know what that means.
We had to dump the water tanks. 2 days to release 5,000 gallons back to Mother Earth. And it will take another 2 days to release the upper 4,000 gallons.
After insulation was done I painted the plywood where my fabric storage Cubbies will be. Black hides everything.
It started to snow again and of course the supervisor had to go out to inspect it.
Even with it snowing the temperature in the house is comfortable to work in!
We had to get water. It was an adventure with the wet slick roads. Can you say mud boggin’?
The roads are icy and a real mess in places. We spent a nice evening at our neighbors, Vicki and John’s house. Wonderful dinner and a little football. In bed by 7:30pm and we did not wake up till 7:30 am New a Years Day.
Till next time….
